Problems that plagued Italy
Mussolini was dealt with many economical and social difficulties during his time of reign. The economy had been ripped apart because of the expenses Italy had to pay due to World War I. Mussolini wanted to solve these problems because the success of his policies would lead to his increase of popularity as the Duce and contribute to his consolidation of power. And his key motive was to build Italy's economy to a level where it could rival the great industrial powers of the world like Britain,France, and Germany.
Some social policies that Mussolini contributed to was the Battle of Grain and Battle for the Lira and Battle of Land. The Battle for Grain wanted to increase grain yield and to sell it as exports by feeding the nation. He stated that increasing grain production was the only way for Italy to become closer to achieving its goal of becoming an autarky. Now as that plan did not succeed it made the working class or peasants very unhappy. This was due to the lack of grain that Italy produced which was their primary source of food.
The Battle for Land backfired on Mussolini as well.As a grossing leader would strive for more land Land has its purposes such as increasing territory, abundance of resources, and power.Yet as he did so none of the wester colonies in the world like the fact that he invaded Ethiopia. The Western colonies thought that what Mussoloni did was inhumane and unjustly wrong to the Ethiopians and didn't want to ally with a country whose leader was like that either.
